rss.chat is not trying to replace closed social networks by building another closed social network. It is starting with RSS and other open, replaceable parts, then inviting developers and users to help explore what can be built around them.

An underdog does not need to dominate the web. It needs enough people willing to use it, test it, build around it, and demonstrate that there is still another way to create social software.

This is exciting stuff. The web needs more experiments that are small enough to be shaped by their communities and open enough that no single company gets to own the outcome.
