Joshternet.org Is Live

A few days ago, I apparently started writing networking specifications for people named Josh. Today, the project has a home.

Joshternet.org is now live as the public home for the Joshternet: the specifications, implementation guidance, governance work, and whatever comes next.

The project is still deliberately PRE-JOSH.

There are three Draft RFCs, the protocol is being tested against real websites, and there are plenty of engineering questions left to answer.

That is the point. I don't want to design the entire thing in isolation and then declare it finished. The Joshternet should develop from actual implementations, broken assumptions, disagreements, and other Joshes trying things I did not think of. The basic idea remains pleasantly small: independent websites, ordinary web standards, voluntary participation, and no central platform deciding who belongs.

Joshness is declared, never derived.

If you are a Josh with a website, or just someone interested in decentralized identity, discovery, and the independent web, have a look. Read the Joshternet specifications. Find something wrong. That would actually be useful.
