AI Can Contribute Without Owning the Architecture

In A peptalk for devs, Dave Winer describes Claude as a full contributor to RSS.chat, with a deliberate division of labor between human and machine.

“I will refer to it as if it were a valued contributor, nothing less.”

What stands out to me is that Dave still protects the boundaries that matter.

Claude can write documentation, examples, SQL, and eventually take over more of the code. But the interoperability layer remains precious because that is where the product connects to everything around it.

That feels like the right balance. AI can contribute a great deal without being responsible for the architectural decisions that keep the system open, replaceable, and compatible with the rest of the web.
